State, local officials deserve thanks

Opinion: Letters to the editor

Here's a big shout-out for the courageous and forthright Landmark View ("Fragility and Resilience") of March 18.

Our state and local officials deserve all the thanks we can give them -- and more -- for asserting their leadership and taking the kind of bold action we need so badly in this unprecedented crisis. If we're very lucky, their efforts might pull us through in spite of the outrageously self-obsessed incompetence in the White House.
