Happy 100th

June 21st, 2016 11:54 AM

Vera Lynch, who turned 100 years old in April, flashes a big smile after receiving a key to the village of North Riverside from Mayor Hubert Hermanek Jr. at a meeting of the village's board of trustees on June 20. Members of Lynch's family, including her 98-year-old brother, crowded the North Riverside Village Commons council chamber as the mayor presented Lynch with a certificate marking the occasion and the key. Asked what her secret to long life was, Lynch shot back, "I'm not telling. You have to find out for yourself!" | Bob Uphues/Staff
